CHARD NEWS: Visitors urged to take care at cemetery
CHARD Cemetery has been reopened to people wishing to visit the graves of family and friends having been closed the last couple of days because of snow.
But the message from Chard Town Council, which runs the cemetery, is for visitors to still take care as there is still plenty of snow on the paths.
Cllr Jason Baker, chairman of the council’s Guildhall and amenities committee, said on Sunday (March 4, 2018) morning: “I have just had a good look around Chard Cemetery with the amenities team and although there is still quite a lot of snow we have decided to reopen.
“Please take care whilst in the cemetery as it is still slippery – but it is accessible.”
Safety is expected to improve with the thaw now in full flow following the recent adverse weather conditions.
