CHARD NEWS: Snow more excuses – back to school on Monday!
HOLYROOD Academy in Chard has announced that it will definitely be open on Monday (March 5, 2018) for students and staff following the recent bad weather.
The school was closed at the end of last week as the adverse weather conditions took hold on the area.
But the school has posted on social networking Twitter on Sunday (March 4, 2018) that it would be back open on Monday with “snow more excuses.”
Manor Court Primary School in Chard has also said it will be back open as usual.
“As the thaw started yesterday (Saturday, March 3, 2018) and there are no reports of further snow we will reopen the school tomorrow,” said a school spokesman.
“The pedestrian entrance at the back of the school remains closed.”
The Manor Court spokesman added: “Due to frozen pipes we may need to keep the Early Years Centre shut for a further day. A decision will be made by 7.30am tomorrow (Monday, March 5, 2018).”
There is no official news from Avishayes Primary School in Chard but with the thaw working its magic it is expected that all schools in the area will be back open as normal.
Chard School has said it will be reopening on Monday (March 5, 2018) with classes resuming as normal.
Redstart Primary School in Chard announced on Sunday (March 4, 2018) evening that it would be opening again as normal on Monday morning.
Somerset County Council has announced that the majority of school transport will be running as normal on Monday.
“However, there could continue to be some disruption to school transport services in some localised areas,” said a County Hall spokesman.
“Routes will be assessed by Somerset County Council and bus operators. It is therefore recommended parents/carers monitor www.somerset.gov.uk/badweathertransport for the most up-to-date information.
“We will also aim to keep parents/carers up-to-date tomorrow (Monday, March 5, 2018) morning through the school transport SMS texting system.”
