RUNNING: Chard Road Runners complete Blackmore Vale Half Marathon

A TEAM from Chard Road Runners successfully completed the Blackmore Vale Lions Half Marathon on Sunday (February 4, 2018) at Bishops Caundle in Dorset.

Matt Baker and Stevie Potter led the Chard runenrs out on a very cold, but dry morning and they were followed by James Musslewhite, Claire Gibbs and Helen Baxter.

Stevie pulled away from Matt, but he was up for a chase with an aim to get under the two hours, while James soon left Claire and Helen behind as he got on with his challenge of beating his time from last year.

Sadly for James he missed out on that achievement by a minute due a strong headwind.

Claire, suffering with a foot problem, told Helen to go on alone which she did but struggled with motivation in the icy wind.

But Claire kept motivated with visions of crossing the finish line and completed the course and was glad to get a nice warm cup of tea inside her.

A total of 395 runners took part in the run.

Times and finishes for Chard Road Runners: Stevie Potter 137th in 1h 42m 00s; Matt Baker 271st in 1h 57m 32s; James Musselwhite 305th in 2h 02m 37s; Helen Baxter 376th in 2h 22m 47s; Clare Gibbs 392nd 2h 50m 12s.
