ATHLETICS: Holyrood Academy’s Year Eight indoor athletes are county medallists
THE Year Eight boys’ indoor athletics team from Holyrood Academy in Chard are the second best team in the county – that is official!
The team travelled to Richard Huish College in Yeovil on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, to compete in the county Indoor Athletics finals.
Tae Wakeling, Harvey Evans, Alec Evans, Connor White, Callum Boyland, Jake Dennis and Joe Peacock competed in a variety of events throughout the afternoon including shot putt, standing long jump, vertical jump, 4x2 relay, two-lap race, four-lap race and six-lap race.
All of the boys performed well but special mention has to go to Tae Wakeling for winning his four-lap race, the shot-putt and playing a part in the 4x1 relay race where the boys won.
After all the events had taken place, the competition appeared to be close.
During the presentation the boys were ecstatic to come second in the county and receive their silver medals.
Miss Sims, sports coach at Holyrood Academy, said: “The boys performed and behaved extremely well - they did the Academy proud!
“In the end they were only ten points behind the winners and are now second in the county. Well done!”
