CHARD NEWS: Snowdon Park play area will be upgraded in time for school summer holidays
IMPROVEMENTS at the Snowdon Park play area in Chard are due to begin later this year with work completed in time for the school summer holidays.
A public consultation was carried out last year and now final designs are being drawn up which should start to see work kick-in from this spring.
“Public consultation has been completed on designs for the improvement of this South Somerset District Council play area and officers are currently in the process of obtaining quotations for the supply and installation of the goods and services to complete these improvements,” said a council report.
“As this site suffers from poor drainage in the winter months it is not proposed to start construction until the spring of 2018.
“Construction work is expected to take about four to six weeks and the improved play area should be ready for the summer holidays.”
The improvements to play area are expected to include a new play castle, rope pyramid climbing frame, tyre swing, basket swing, toddler swings, spring see saw, play tunnel, agility trail, sand play, additional seating, landscaping and improved boundary to the existing playspace.
The matter will be discussed on Monday (February 5, 2018) by members of Chard Town Council’s Guildhall and amenities committee.
