CHARD NEWS: Little Munchkins gets a good rating by Ofsted
TWO Chard mums who set up their own childcare business four years ago have been delighted at getting the thumbs-up from Osted inspectors.
Samantha Peasland, 26, and Amanda Greenway, 30, started their childminding service, Little Munchkins, from home before expanding and setting up a new nursery at the Chard Young People’s Centre.
The nursery was rated “good” in all aspects of care in the recent Ofsted inspection including the effectiveness of the leadership and management and the personal development, behaviour and welfare of children.
According to the report, children at Little Munchkins are “confident, behave well and build strong friendships.” It recognised that babies “demonstrate they feel emotionally secure” and children “develop the skills they require for their future learning, including those to help prepare them for school.”
Samantha and Amanda set up Little Munchkins, when they were both expecting their first children Joshua and Tallulah, after years of childcare experience and completing childcare qualifications to a high level.
Now, four years on they have relocated to the town centre, next to Chard Rugby Club in Essex Close, after renovating a disused section of the youth centre.
“It was always our aim to set up our own nursery,” said Samantha. “It’s great to see the progress we have made and to be backed now by this recent Ofsted report shows that we are doing all the right things for our children in what is such an important period of their lives.”
Amanda added: “We are really delighted with the results of the report; a lot of hard work from the whole team has gone into setting up Little Munchkins and offering a tailored journey for local children, setting them up perfectly for school.”
The nursery - which now has 28 children in its care and employs five people - has spaces for September 2018, but prospective parents are more than welcome to set up a visit by calling 0793-597-5219.
