BASKETBALL: Holyrood Academy Under-16s hold on for narrow victory

THE Under-16 boys’ basketball team at Holyrood Academy in Chard had a great start in their recent match against The Park School by scoring early on.

Sam Parker led from the front and had a fantastic first quarter scoring the majority of the points for the home side.

The energy levels and enthusiasm from the Holyrood boys surprised the opposition and it took them two quarters to get into their stride but they then started to fight back.

Despite some relentless defending from the likes of Alfred Busby, Charlie Clifford and James Salaman the away team began to catch up.

With just two minutes left of the game The Park School needed one point to win the game but were unable to make the most of the free throw that ended the match and resulted in a win for Holyrood. Player of the match was named as Holyrood’s Sam Parker.

The match was played at Holyrood on Monday, January 22, 2018.
