CHARD NEWS: Plans to commemorate 100 years of the Armistice
A LASTING memorial to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War in Chard has won the support of local councillors.
Cllr Sara Dowell suggested at a recent Chard Town Council meeting that a lasting memorial to commemorate 100 years of the Armistice on November 11, 1918, which signalled the guns falling silent to end the Great War, should be investigated.
It was agreed that the council would promote a project to provide a memorial and look to get the community involved.
The council has formed a working party to include Cllrs Dowell, Dave Bulmer and Cathie Morrison.
