YOUTH RUGBY: Holyrood boys continue winning streak with double success
HOLYROOD Academy's Year Seven boys’ rugby squad in Chard concluded a busy but successful first half-term with back-to-back wins.
The victories came against Castle School Taunton and The Kings School, Ottery St Mary, in their last week before the half-term holidays.
Both opposition schools are highly-regarded as in the top sporting schools in the whole of the South West region.
But Castle were defeated by a massive 70pts-15 with Player of the Match being shared between Harvi Gardiner and Sam Peacock.
Wet and windy conditions against Kings led to a much closer game which Holyrood won 10pts-5. Player of the match this time was Max Clayton.
These two victories mean that Holyrood’s Year Seven squad is unbeaten after six matches this term. Head of rugby Simon Jenkins said: “Over 25 players got game time in these matches, which shows the strength and depth we have.
“To achieve back-to-back wins against schools of this calibre is testament to how high the standard of rugby at Holyrood has become."
