CARNIVAL: Chard Carnival Souvenir Newspaper available NOW for FREE!

WELCOME to the very first Chard Carnival Souvenir Newspaper produced by the Chard Press news, sport and leisure website.

The 12-page FREE colour newspaper is packed with photos from the Chard Children’s Carnival and the main Chard Carnival itself on Saturday, October 14,2017.

The newspaper is available for people to pick-up for FREE in Chard Book Shop in Pig Lane, off Holyrood Street, Chard; Chard Newsagent in Fore Street, Chard; and the Guildhall, also in Fore Street, Chard.

Carnival is a wonderful tradition that is enjoyed each year by thousands of people who line the streets of Chard to watch the procession of floats, masqueraders, musicians and majorettes pass by.

And although the newspaper is a celebration of Chard Carnival, we have also reflected on the terrible accident which put a dark cloud over Saturday’s events and we wish the lady who suffered serious injuries our very best wishes and a speedy recovery.

Congratulations go to all the participants in this year’s 50th anniversary parades in Chard, the extremely hard-working members of the Chard Carnival Committee who pull out all the stops to ensure that the town has a Carnival parade and to those who volunteer on the day to help out.

Steve Sowden, of Chard Press, said: “I would like to thank all of the businesses and organisations who have advertised in this publication – Somerset Mobile Bars, Cartridge Wyse, Foto Finish, Chudley International, Clive Adams, C & D South West, Grinters, Floweringi, G S Property Maintenance, The Phoenix Hotel, The Haymaker Inn and Chard Book Shop.”

If any business or organisation would like to advertise in the 2018 Chard Carnival Souvenir Newspaper then please get in touch by emailing .

Steve added: “I would like to thank James Healey, of JRH Media, and Wincanton Print for their support and help in putting this publication together along with freelance photographer Christine Jones for all her great photos of the two Chard Carnivals.”

Here’s looking forward to Chard Carnival 2018!
